Over the past week, Spring beauty (Claytonia virginica) have taken over the parks and nature areas I’ve visited.
The lovely pink/white flowers with deep pink stripes are one of the first southeast Michigan native plants to bloom in spring.
I love seeing them in large patches of more than 100 feet in size at the neighborhood park, where this photo was taken earlier in the week.
The four to six-inch flowers don’t last long.
When I visited the park yesterday, many of the blooms had already started forming seed capsules.
For my readers in the northern hemisphere, what spring flowers are blooming in your area?
