A mass of pink-white flowers with five petals and darker pink stripes cover the grass along the creek.

Over the past week, Spring beauty (Claytonia virginica) have taken over the parks and nature areas I’ve visited.

The lovely pink/white flowers with deep pink stripes are one of the first southeast Michigan native plants to bloom in spring.
