Like many people in 2020, I’ve attended my share of virtual meetings, events, and conferences.

And I’ve had the opportunity to discover a lot of different event pages on the web.

Some online event pages make it easy to learn about an event.

I can quickly review

  • Schedule
  • Speakers
  • Session summaries
  • Dates and times

Eventbrite and Accessibility

Last week, when I wrote about moving our Refresh Detroit event registration from Meetup.com to Eventbrite, I explained the main reason was to create a more usable and accessible experience for our members.

I talked about how the Meetup.com design released in late 2017 resulted in a frustrating and less accessible experience for organizers as well as people registering for events.

As Refresh Detroit co-organizers, Nick DeNardis and I talked about event registration alternatives to Meetup.com and ultimately chose to use Eventbrite.

Refresh Detroit: Creating a More Usable and Accessible Experience

I’ve been a Meetup.com event organizer for around 10 years.

During that time, I’ve managed events for five meetup groups. I estimate I hosted 400+ events in the past decade with the Meetup.com platform.

When Meetup.com first came out, I was ecstatic to have a unified event management tool.
