You couldn’t have asked for a more beautiful summer day for the 65th birthday celebration of the Dossin Great Lakes Museum along the shore of the Detroit River at Belle Isle State Park in Detroit, Michigan.
Sunshine, temperatures in the mid-70’s Fahrenheit, a light breeze off the river, and free ice cream on the outside patio area made for a lovely July 25, 2026 dock party celebration .
And we just happened to be at the museum looking out over the river when the Algoma Mariner freighter traveling downbound from Charlevoix, Michigan passed in front of us.
