This weekend I visited the Manistique Community Treehouse Center for a summer afternoon of fun creative activities including a native plant swap.

Located in the Jefferson Chalmers neighborhood on the east side of Detroit, Michigan, the Manistique Community Treehouse Center has gardens, native plants, a birding area, stunning wood pavillion, and the beautiful fountain you see in this blog post.

Photo of the Week: Great Blue Heron on the Detroit River

A Great blue heron, a large water bird, stands on one foot facing backwards as a large ice sheet floats down the Detroit River, Small pockets of open water can be seen around the ice sheet.

No need to travel to an amusement park when you can float on ice floating downstream on the Detroit River. Facing backwards.
