My Top 9 Photo Moments for 2020

December 30, 2020 By Deborah Edwards-Onoro Leave a Comment

elegant purple and white bearded iris in bloom.

Years ago, when I had an Instagram account, the end of the year would bring the ability to create a collage of my top nine photos of the year.

Mind you, Instagram didn’t provide the feature natively.

You had to use a third-party application and provide your Instagram information to create your top nine photos collage.

It was fun to view the collage and reminisce about vacation trips, birding finds, and local festivals.

Since I no longer use Instagram, I share favorite photos weekly on my blog with the Photo of the Week post as well as on my Flickr account. Continue reading My Top 9 Photo Moments for 2020

2012: My Year in Photos

January 2, 2013 By Deborah Edwards-Onoro

The year has gone by quickly, with many changes in my work and life. In February I completed my special project work at DTE Energy, attended WordCamp Phoenix, and accepted a job offer to return to Washtenaw Community College as a web developer.

Check out this photo recap of some of my favorite events and activities.

January 2012

snowdrops in bloom
A warm spell the first week of the year surprised me with blooming snowdrops in my front courtyard. What a surprise! Where I live, snowdrops typically bloom in late February/early March.

February 2012

attendees at World IA Day nn Arbor
I was fortunate to be one of the more than 200 people attending the first World IA Day Ann Arbor at the University of Michigan, honoring the 14th anniversary of the publication of the “polar bear book” Information Architecture for the World Wide Web, written by Lou Rosenfeld and Peter Morville.

March 2012

As I bicycled the White Pine Trail in northern Michigan, I glanced along the trail and saw these skunk cabbage popping through the shallow water.

April 2012

Keith Instone, Larry Rusinsky, Molly Holschlag, Dylan Barrell, Deborah Edwards-Onoro, and Scott Williams
It was a special night in Ann Arbor enjoying dinner with Refresh Detroit guest speaker Molly Holzschlag and accessibility friends Dylan Barrell, Scott Williams, Keith Instone, and Larry Rusinsky.

May 2012

graduates at Washtenaw Community College commencement
It was a beautiful day to attend the 2012 Washtenaw Community College 2012 Commencement ceremony celebrating 3,000 graduates.

June 2012

front leather seats displaying Mercury god logo on seat back
The Classic Car show at the annual Canton Liberty Fest never fails to impress me. The interior in this Mercury was amazing; first time I’ve seen a Mercury god logo on the upholstery.

July 2012

Stunning. Only one word can describe my view of the sunset at East Bay Park in Bay Harbor, Michigan.

August 2012

Roger Federer lands a backhand in his match
Watching the Western & Southern Cincinnati US Open Series tournament is one of my favorite summertime treats. Nothing can beat seeing Roger Federer, Venus Williams, and Serena Williams on the court.

September 2012

Brad Colbow discussing mobile design
For the second time this year, I was happy to have a nationally known web professional accept my invitation to speak to our Refresh Detroit group. In September, Brad Colbow, Cleveland-based designer and creator of “The Brads” comic strip, spoke about designing interfaces for mobile devices.

October 2012

Curtiss Grymala discusses multisite setup at University of Mary Washington
For two years in a row, I joined several other local WordPress professionals to organize WordCamp Detroit. This year’s WordCamp was a one-day, two-track event that attracted local bloggers, developers, and business people. My higher education colleague Curtiss Grymala, shown in this photo, gave an excellent presentation on WordPress Multisite.

November 2012

plateful of fresh cilantro
While many people in southeast Michigan enjoyed the unexpected sixty-degree weather on Thanksgiving with a walk and pickup games of football, I enjoyed picking fresh cilantro from my garden.

December 2012

white ibis on the short of pond at Disney World
For our holiday vacation, our family took a week-long vacation in Florida before Christmas and enjoyed warm weather as well as Disney World, Daytona Beach, and Winter Park. I was surprised how friendly the birds were, including this white ibis.
