What started as part of the Detroit Institute of Arts (DIA) 125th-anniversary celebration in 2010 has become an annual community art outreach program in Michigan.

If you’re a fan of jazz music, there’s no better way to enjoy Labor Day weekend in metro Detroit than to listen to the performances of local and international musicians at the free Detroit International Jazz Festival in downtown Detroit.

This year’s festival featured an incredible lineup of performers, including Ron Carter, George Benson, Chris Potter Underground Orchestra, Vanguard Jazz Orchestra, Barbara Ware Quartet, Roberta Gambarini, Jimmy Heath, and more. Labor Day weekend marks the end of summer and the beginning of the school year in my community. I’m thankful for the cooler weather this week and I know my summer flowers won’t last long before the fall flowers start blooming. Here’s a few more shots of flowers from the garden.
