It was almost dusk when I arrived at Magee Marsh near Oregon, Ohio on the southern shore of Lake Erie.
I was on the lookout for Great Egrets which I hadn’t seen yet for Global Big Day, a day when birders take to the field to see how many species they can see in one day.

You know spring has returned to southeast Michigan when you see the unmistakable Wood Ducks in the ponds of flooded harvested corn fields.
Wood Ducks are one of the first migrating waterfowl to return to southeast Michigan in late winter and early spring.
