It was almost dusk when I arrived at Magee Marsh near Oregon, Ohio on the southern shore of Lake Erie.
I was on the lookout for Great Egrets which I hadn’t seen yet for Global Big Day, a day when birders take to the field to see how many species they can see in one day.
I wasn’t disappointed.
Almost a dozen Great Egrets stood out in the marsh, their white color a sharp contrast to the golden brown cattails in the rays of the setting sun.
All told, I had over 60 birds for my Global Big Day!
And to top off the day, I saw this beautiful Bald Eagle perched outside its nest near the west entrance of the Magee Marsh boardwalk.
Great day for birdwatching!
