Plymouth’s 2010 Art in the Park

July 11, 2010 By Deborah Edwards-Onoro

After church service this morning, we walked about fifty steps to the downtown streets to take in Art in the Park in Plymouth Michigan. I had no idea that Art in the Park was the second largest art fair in Michigan; we go every year since it’s just steps away from our church. Turns out this year is the 30th anniversary of the first event.

We did our share of people watching, checking out unique art items, fell in love with some cool photos of Michigan, and walked away with a cool music CD, Instruments of Praise, by Zamar Jazz Band. The mime at the intersection of Ann Arbor Trail and Main Street captured everyone’s interest when he shook hands with a fellow who greeted him. And wouldn’t let go.

One of our friends had a booth for the first time this year, selling unique bird houses. We couldn’t pass up this one—it was one of our son’s favorite books when he was young.

I was going to say it’s a beautiful weekend for Art in the Park, sunny with blue skies. But we just got hit with a sudden 15-minute afternoon shower. We live a few minutes away from the fair; hope our friends were able to cover their wares quickly before the rain came down.
