Photo of the Week: 2026 Plymouth, Michigan Fourth of July Parade

Given the break in extreme heat overnight and 250th anniversary of the United States Declaration of Independence, I was excited to attend Plymouth, Michigan’s Fourth of July parade this weekend.

And was delighted to watch local groups, performance artists, scouts, marching bands, dogs, bicycles, and veterans in the parade.

The performance artist twirling inside the hula hoop was my favorite!

And that wasn’t the only twirling going on.

Balloon handlers twirled the 25-foot tall Uncle Sam red, white, and blue inflatable balloon, similar to how balloon handlers twirl balloons at the Detroit Thanksgiving Day parade down Woodward Avenue.

This was the first year I’ve seen a concrete mixer truck in a parade.

In 2005, I watched log trucks hauling logs from nearby northern forests in the fourth of July parade in Curtis, Michigan in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula.

First time in years since I’ve attended the Plymouth 4th of July parade and I discovered they changed the direction of the parade route on Main Street!

At least I think the parade route direction changed?

Attending past Plymouth Memorial Day parades, they started at Wing Street and Main Street, ending at Veterans Park across from First Presbyterian Church.

This year’s parade started near Bode’s Corned Beef House and headed south on Main Street, ending at Hartsough.

For folks who celebrated the Fourth of July, how was your day?
