What is LinkedIn Learning?
Launched in 2016, LinkedIn Learning is an online training portal offering video courses taught by industry experts in business, creative, and technology.
Over the past few years, I’ve taken several courses on LinkedIn Learning to improve my skills and knowledge in business, WordPress, web development, user experience, accessibility, and communication.
LinkedIn Learning courses are taught by industry experts with years of experience in their field.
What You’ll Learn in the Software Development Path
Comprised of 11 courses with almost 30 hours of content, the software development path provides an introduction to programming including:
- Web development
- Software development
- Databases
- Tools used in development
You’ll learn the foundations of programming, practice HTML and CSS, learn about security concerns, and get introduced to Python, JavaScript, C#, and SQL.
I recognized several of the instructor names, including Jen Simmons and Morten Rand-Hendriksen, who are well-respected experts in the web industry.

Get Started with LinkedIn Learning Software Development Path
To take the 11 free software development path courses, you’ll need to sign up for a free 30-day trial version of LinkedIn Learning or log into your LinkedIn account.
Once you’ve logged in, select the Learning tab (I only confirmed the steps on desktop since I don’t use their app) and navigate to (or search for) Become a Software Developer.
Choose the course you want to start with to begin learning about software development.

Whether you’re switching careers or improving your skills, the LinkedIn Learning Become a Software Developer courses are an excellent (and free!) way to learn the foundations in software development.
