Halloween is a popular day in southeast Michigan, and a special day not only for children and Halloween parties.
Several adult friends told me about attending local Halloween events this year, including haunted forests, zombie paintball, haunted corn maze, and haunted houses.
Me, I’m into
- Halloween stories
- Checking out scary trees
- Spooky music like Mussorgsky’s Night on Bald Mountain (the opening is amazing!)
- Dressing up to give out treats on Halloween night.
And I’ve gone to haunted houses in the past.
But this year, I discovered a new way to celebrate Halloween: a haunted car wash.
For the past four years, Mr. Spotless at 3827 West Vernor Highway (OpenStreetMap) in southwest Detroit has offered a spooky car wash.
According to car wash owner Fathel Alley,
“We have a great time doing it, my family helps me out a lot.
They dress up in clown costumes and scare people as they get their car washed. It’s a great time.”
Each year has a different theme; this year’s theme is big fuzzy animals.
Short notice for folks in the area, but through October 31, 2024 from 8:00PM to 11:00PM, you can get your Halloween thrills at the southwest Detroit car wash.
Regular cost for a car wash at Mr. Spotless on Vernor Highway is $12, but cost for the spooky car wash (only from 8:00PM to 11:00PM) is $20.
