Did you see the tree?
My reply, Of course, I saw the tree. All those beautiful orange and gold trees in the back, right?
No, I’m talking about the tree along the side of the road.
Huh? Which tree?
Wait, I’ll turn around so you can see it. Watch the right side of the road after we turn around.
OK,
I replied.
I was a bit frustrated. We were on our way to dinner and I was hungry.
As we drove close to the tree, I kept my eyes peeled.
What was I supposed to be looking at?
And then I burst out laughing.
That’s so cool! I wonder who created it?
And how many people miss it as they’re driving through Ypsilanti?
(For those who aren’t from my area, Ypsilanti is in southeastern Michigan.)
If you’re interested and want to check out the tree yourself, it’s along the west side of the road bordering the cemetery, off Clark Road west of Prospect.
I’m sure someone created it for Halloween a couple weeks ago, but if you’re not looking for it, you wouldn’t know it’s there.
Someone took the time to add big green eyes and a mouth of gnashing teeth in the holes left from dead branches that fell off the tree. What fun!
