I’ve been making homemade cinnamon rolls for Christmas for as long as I can remember. Get up early in the morning before anyone is up to start the rolls.
By the time I take the rolls out of the oven, presents have been opened and it’s time to relax and enjoy breakfast.
Everyone loves the rolls! Our former next door neighbors would stop by on Christmas day just to try out the warm out-of-the-oven rolls.
Given several family members are trying to lose weight, I knew I had to find a recipe that was a bit healthier, with fewer calories and less fat.
Sadly, the low-fat cinnamon roll recipe I used is no longer online.
Like most cooks, I did some substituting.
Instead of 4 1/2 cups of flour, I used 3 cups of bread flour and 1 1/2 cups of whole wheat pastry flour. I wasn’t sure what the lower-gluten pastry flour would do for the consistency, but it worked out great.
For the icing, I chose not to add the fat-free cream cheese, and just increased the confectioners sugar by another 1/2 cup or so.
WOW looks amazing. You are a Chef 🙂
The rolls turned out great Florian! Sorry to hear about the door ding 🙁
