What is World Usability Day?
On the second Thursday of November, people around the world gather together for World Usability Day (WUD).
It’s a day for education and celebration—educating how usability affects and improves our lives and celebrating successes with creating usable products and services we use daily.
World Usability Day is an inclusive event, the public is invited to attend. Events are held locally; the format may be presentations, workshops, or open houses.

My Experience at World Usability Day
I attended my first World Usability Day event at MSU in 2006 when I was a student in the user experience program at Washtenaw Community College.
I remember feeling a bit wary of attending the event; I thought it would be filled with professionals working in the field of usability.
There was no reason for me to be concerned!
Everyone was friendly and wanted to learn more about the program I was in. And I quickly found several classmates at the event.
I’ve been attending World Usability Day ever since and helped conduct alarm clock usability testing at World Usability Day 2009.
Alarming usability winner….. alarm clock 4! Thanks to all the #wud2009 people at MSU who volunteered.
