It’s bittersweet when the car cruise takes over Edward Hines Drive in Westland, Michigan.

As I was birdwatching this morning along Edward Hines Parkway, the road was blocked east of Ann Arbor Trail and I stopped at Nankin Mills Interpretive Center. I have wonderful memories of the center for my Girl Scout nature activities and I remember when the mill officially re-opened as an interpretive center in 2001. The weather couldn’t have been better for the inaugural “Cruisin’ Hines Drive” car cruise last Sunday, August 28, 2011. Blue skies, bright sunlight, and cool-looking cars and trucks greeted us as we settled in with hundreds of other people at Nankin Mills in Westland, Michigan for the cruise.
I was amazed how many car owners invited me to sit in the driver’s seat of their cars. What a treat! Check out my photos sitting in a Cobra, Thunderbird, as well as cars cruising the parkway and more.
