Photo of the Week: Northville River Park

Looking north from one of the pedestrian bridges, the Rouge River tumbles over rocks. Along the shoreline, is a Mallard foraging. Bright red and gold maple and oak trees as well as flowering native plants line the shoreline. Bright blue skies and white fluffy clouds in the background.

A beautiful fall day with blue skies, bright sunshine, cool temperatures, and the beginning of fall color change in maples and oaks made for a wonderful walk along the trails of Northville River Park.

Opened only a few months ago in June 2026, the downtown park replaces a longtime privately owned horse race course.

It was a beautiful summer evening last Friday when I stopped at Newburgh Pointe at Edward Hines Park. The canoe livery was shutting down for the evening, fisherman were out on the dock, and several people were sitting on the benches watching the sunset.
