Usually I have to travel to Lake Erie to see migrating shorebirds in spring and fall. But every so often they stop to forage in some of our nearby wetlands on their way to/from their breeding grounds on the tundra.

Photo of the Week: Common Camas
I love the deep purple color of my common camas flowers; they sprout early in spring and bloom from mid-spring through early summer.
They were a free gift of 20 bulbs I received a few years ago with an order of plants from a mail-order nursery.
