Photo of the Week: Mission Hill Cemetery Overlook in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula

About 20 miles west of Sault Ste. Marie in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula is one of my favorite places to see autumn colors in our state.

Mission Hill Overlook, across from the Mission Hill Cemetery in Brimley Michigan overlooks Spectacle Lake, Lake Superior, Whitefish Bay, and Sault Ste. Marie.

To get to the overlook, you drive up a steep incline on a narrow asphalt one-lane road, with hardwood trees on each side of the road.

It feels like you’re in a tunnel of trees, only dappled light makes it way through the shadows.

Cliffs on the north edge of the road drop more than 50 feet, raising every driver’s heartbeat a bit as they drive to the overlook. Continue reading Photo of the Week: Mission Hill Cemetery Overlook in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula
