What a treat to see the first blooms of my pink Rose Mallow plant in my garden today!

I planted it two years ago and this year was the first year the Rose Mallow bloomed.

Let’s meet at the fountain, is a common message I’ve told my friends over the years when we plan to get together in Plymouth, Michigan.

The Kellogg Park fountain is a well-known landmark for people in our western metro Detroit area.

Photo of the Week: Blue Grosbeak at the Antenna Farm

When I heard from our local birding email list that Blue Grosbeaks, a large bird similar in size to the Northern Cardinal, had been found near Lake Erie in southeast Michigan, I was on a quest.

I had to find it!

It took me three tries over two weekends, 100 degree plus Farenheit temperatures, and torrential rains, but I finally saw both male and female Blue Grosbeaks earlier this morning at the Antenna Farm in Monroe County.
