What I Found Interesting: February 19, 2025

Today is day 50 of 2025.

Only 28 days until spring arrives in the Northern Hemisphere.

I can be optimistic, can’t I?

A bitter cold week in southeast Michigan, with wind chills in the negative double digits at night, makes me glad for bright spots of sunshine during the day.

Not Too Early to Think About Gardening

Looking out my window today, I see snow-covered yards, piles of snow on the side of the street, and long icicles on the eaves of houses.

Yesterday, we received over four inches of snow.

And I learned this morning, our metro Detroit area snow total for January 2024 is 17 inches of snow.

Which has me thinking of gardening.

First Looks at Day One for Journaling

I’m always been interested in different platforms for publishing my writing on the web.

But it can be hard to find a platform that lets you focus on your writing, without getting overwhelmed with features, configuration, etc.

Which is what first led me to create an account on Posterous in 2010, a simple blogging platform which shut down in 2013 (after Twitter bought it).

What I loved about Posterous was its quick setup (little configuration) and the many ways I could publish a post, including sending an email with text, photos, videos, etc.

In recent years, I took a look at Day One, one of the most popular platforms for private journals.
