As I crossed Temple on my way to TEDxDetroit 2018, I recognized the artist crouched on the sidewalk in front of Masonic Temple.

David Zinn, an Ann Arbor-based artist, was quickly creating one of his signature colorful street art illustrations on the sidewalk near the entrance.

Finding my way around Detroit’s Eastern Market regular shoppers, scooter riders, lines of vehicles, and tour groups looking at this year’s Murals in the Market was a challenge yesterday.

With cool temperatures, the first day of fall was a busy day at the market!

Photo of the Week: Living Statue at Western & Southern Open

Wait, did you see that statue?

It moved!

I smiled as I heard someone say that to their friend as they walked by me at the Western & Southern Open tennis tournament last week in Mason, Ohio.

For the past few years, I’ve been delighted to see members of the Cincinnati Circus entertain the crowds as gold-colored living statues.

I remember the first time I saw a living statue at the tournament; I did a double-take.
