I remember when Google Fonts first became available in 2010. What a wonderful gift for everyone!
The initial launch included 19 licensed fonts with a selection of serif, san-serif, script and fixed-width options.
And they were all free to use.
Over time, Google Fonts grew to over 800 fonts that have been downloaded over 22 trillion times.
And according to Dave Crossland, program manager for Google Fonts, over 1/3 of websites use a font from the Google Fonts API.
