I was glad to stop by Wilcox Lake Recreation Area after church this morning and enjoyed seeing waterfowl swimming in the open water.
Due to the nearby dam, the lake doesn’t always freeze over in winter. You can almost always find ducks, geese, and other waterfowl on the lake.
Thankfully, colder weather and snow returned to southeast Michigan this weekend, with typical January temperatures of 20 and 30 degrees. Last week, our temperatures reached 50 degrees.
It’s certainly been a confusing winter in southeast Michigan for our trees, shrubs, and overwintering bugs as temperatures swing from 40 to 50 degrees and then below freezing again.
How about you? Is your area having a typical winter season? Or have you seen temperatures swinging back and forth?
It has definitely been a strange winter here as well. Before winter started all the prognosticators were saying what a hard winter it was going to be. It makes me wonder what February and March have in store for us.
Me too, Paul. I wonder what will happen in February and March. Do you have snow on the ground this week? We have a light covering. I’m very happy this morning to see the sun again, we’ve had gray cloudy days all last week.
