Photo of the Week: Michelin Green Guide for Detroit

When I learned in December 2024 that Detroit was the 10th US city with a Michelin Green Guide, I couldn’t wait to get my own copy.

Visit Detroit’s press release about the Michelin Green Guide for Detroit announced the English version of the guide would be available in late December 2024.

When I searched for the guide throughout January 2025, I couldn’t find any place where I could buy the English version.

So I contacted Visit Detroit directly through email to ask where I could buy the guide.

And received a quick response; the guide could be pre-ordered from Amazon.

I thanked them for the information and quick reply.

But said what wasn’t an option for me, since I haven’t bought anything from Amazon in years.

And don’t plan to buy anything from Amazon in the future.

I asked if there were any independent book stores in Detroit planning to sell the guide.

Eventually my message found its way to the Visit Detroit’s director of tourism.

And less than a week later, I learned Visit Detroit would be sending me an extra copy they had in their office.

Thank you, Visit Detroit!

I’ve been reading the guide the last couple weeks and it’s brought many smiles to my face late at night.

Which resulted in my plans for visiting several new-to-me Detroit places I discovered from the guide.

As soon as the latest Arctic cold moving in today and lasting the rest of this week moves out.
