Photo of the Week: Daffodils in Bloom at Belle Isle State Park

One of my favorite places to visit in spring is Belle Isle State Park to see the daffodils in bloom on the island.

This week’s photo shows the first daffodils in bloom at the park, on the north side of the island near the paved trail, past the beach and before the north fishing pier.

I love how the daffodils follow the curve of the trail!

From what I learned, over a half million daffodil bulbs have been planted on Belle Isle by Daffodils4Detroit, a project of the Michigan Division of the Woman’s National Farm and Garden Association.

And the City of Detroit has planted close to two million more bulbs in neighborhoods throughout the city.

I searched, but couldn’t find Detroit’s daffodil map for spring 2024. I suspect it will be published in the next few weeks.

But you can check out Detroit’s spring 2023 daffodil map.

It might be cold today in southeast Michigan with feel-like temperatures below freezing, but the blooming daffodils sure brightened my day!

If you’re in the Northern Hemisphere, what spring flowers are blooming in your area?
