While northern parts of Michigan were hit this weekend with a spring snow storm of six to 10 inches of snow, those of us in southeast Michigan had a weekend of spring rain showers, strong winds up to 60 miles per hour overnight, and bright blue skies, calm breezes, and sunshine this morning.
Over the past week, crocuses in my yard started blooming, including the purple flowers featured in this post.
With last Monday’s official start of spring in the northern hemisphere, I’ve seen more signs of spring in southeast Michigan:
- Sounds of Spring peepers in the woods
- Return of the Osprey and Blue-winged Teals to a nearby metropark
- Reduced piles of snow in parking lots
Though I wouldn’t be surprised if we have another southeast Michigan snowfall before the end of April.
If you’re in the northern hemisphere, what signs of spring have you seen in your area?
