Photo of the Week: Blooming Crocuses are a Sure Sign of Spring

It’s a sure sign of spring when my yellow crocuses are in bloom!

And that’s what happened this weekend with our warm temperatures in the mid-60’s degrees Farenheit.

My purple crocuses always bloom first, anywhere from two weeks to two months before the yellow crocuses.

But this year, our spring arrived later.

My purple crocuses bloomed two weeks ago.

And today I saw nearby farms still gathering sap from the maple trees, so I know the buds haven’t burst in their area. Maple buds didn’t burst on many trees until the past couple weeks.

Yet.

Last night, we ate outside. The first time since last fall.

Though I have to admit, when the sun disappeared behind some fluffy clouds, I was a bit chilled.

Glad to say, spring has finally arrived to southeast Michigan!
