It snuck by me earlier this month, but I am proud to announce that I’ve published over 1,500 posts on Lireo Designs.
If someone had told me years ago I would one day publish that many posts, I would have replied, Not possible!
A few years ago, I announced reaching the milestone of 500 published posts. Followed the next year by an announcement that I published 800 posts.
Today, I’ve published almost double that number!
To my readers, I thank you for all your comments and feedback. And for your blog post suggestions over the years.
Has it Been Eight Years Since I Started Blogging?
Unbelievable, but this month marks the eighth year since I started publishing blog posts. My anniversary is next week, on October 24th.
Time has flown by! In 2009, I was working at Washtenaw Community College as a web analyst on the web services team.
Much of my time was spent learning about web accessibility so I could help improve the usability and the accessibility of the college website.
I was active in the higher education social media community, meeting colleagues and sharing information on Twitter and the Ning community (now closed down).
Eight years ago I was busy organizing events and managing the website as a Refresh Detroit meetup co-organizer (as I am now).
And doing the same volunteer work as one of the officers for the Michigan Usability Professionals’ Association. It was a fun time!
Why Did I Start Blogging?
After completing a 365-day project by publishing a photo every day for a year, I decided I wanted another outlet to share my photography and my thoughts.
In 2009, I published two posts. Great start, eh?
The next year, I committed to publishing at least one post every week.
My topics expanded to include web design, development, accessibility, user experience, WordPress, productivity, and technology.
In 2013, I challenged myself to publishing daily for 30 days. What a sense of accomplishment to achieve that milestone!
The next step was to publish daily for a year, which was an amazing adventure! One I continued for two years.
What’s Next for My Blogging?
Publishing four posts a week has been my schedule for the past couple years and I don’t expect that to change soon.
My posts are still about what I’m interested in: web design and development, user experience, accessibility, WordPress, and technology.
And, of course, my favorite photo of the week!
I’ve enjoyed the writing, learning new things about the web, meeting my readers virtually and in person, and I look forward to what the future brings.
Thank you to my readers for joining me on this journey!
Have you started a blog? Do you publish regularly?
That’s awesome! Congrats Deborah! A great accomplishment, and I’ve enjoyed reading your posts and valuable perspectives. Thank you for your sharing.
Hi Maria,
Thank you for the kind words. Glad you’ve enjoyed my posts. Never imagined I would one day publish so many posts!
