The brown cardboard box on my front porch had my name on it. I wasn’t expecting anything. I checked the sender address.
The label said Microsoft Corporation in Bellevue, Washington.
Did I order something from Microsoft?
Hmm, I couldn’t remember ordering anything recently. Maybe I had a recurring software purchase I wasn’t remembering.
As I cut through the adhesive tape on the top of the box, I kept puzzling over what could be in the box.
It was a good sized box, over a foot wide in each direction, and about six inches deep.
Books? No, the box didn’t weigh much.
I unfolded the box top, and saw a simple printed card on top. I smiled.
We love that you love Skype.
Last month I tweeted about using Skype. That morning I had several Skype calls with clients, as well as screen sharing sessions, that went well. Skype’s social media team quickly responded to my tweet.
The box contained a Skype Moment Makers water bottle, a branded water cup with straw and top (both BPA-free) and a cool towel. What a lovely gesture!
Skype is one of my go-to business tools. I don’t know what I’d do without it.
It’s kept me in communication with my clients, allowed me to stay in touch with friends and colleagues around the world in the UK, Denmark, Australia, and India, and given me opportunities to do training through screen sharing.
As I’ve written about before on this blog, it’s the small things.
Whether it’s
- Responding to a tweet, Facebook message, or comment on a blog
- Writing a personal email message
- Taking the time to send a special gift
these types of personal connections online companies use to respond to their users and customers builds relationships and trust.
Thank you Skype! #SkypeShare
