Accessible workflows for inclusive publishing, annotating designs for accessibility, and how project management empowers accessibility are among the topics for this year’s Inclusive Design 24 conference.
The online Inclusive Design 24 is a free 24-hour conference on September 23, 2021, open to everyone.
The full-day event brings together people around the world who want to share and learn about inclusive design in the products and services we create.
Attending Inclusive Design 24 is an excellent way to:
- Improve your inclusive design and accessibility knowledge
- Learn about different tools and strategies
- Discuss the challenges of inclusive design
- Meet others interested in creating inclusive design
Associate Director of WebAIM Jared Smith, Web Accessibility Education and Training Specialist at the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) Daniel Montalvo, and Accessibility Analyst in the State of Minnesota’s Office of Accessibility Jennie Delisi are three of the presenters who will be speaking at the event.

After the event, session recordings will be available.
About the Sessions and Schedule
The conference kicks off September 23, 2021 at 11:30PM UTC with a pre-show with the hosts, chatting about accessibility and inclusive design.
The first session begins at 0:00 UTC on September 23, 2021.
(I love that their schedule automatically converts session times to my time zone. I don’t have to doing any work to convert times!)
Sessions start at the top of the hour and end with a Q & A.
Not sure how they’re managing speaker questions this year.
In the past, you could ask @id24conf on Twitter using the #id24 hashtag. It’s possible questions may be managed only on YouTube.
Or both Twitter and YouTube.
With 24 hours of sessions, you’ll want to check the ID24 schedule to learn which talks you want to attend.
Heads up: the schedule can change. You’ll want to check it the day before the event to confirm times for the sessions you want to attend.
Here are a few of the sessions I’m planning on attending:
- Glenda Sims and Jennie Delisi: Your brain is welcome here: Digital spaces need a new welcome mat
- Reinaldo Ferraz: Now it is easy to add captions to videos on the web
- Leah Brochu and Daniella Levy-Pinto: Accessible Workflows for Inclusive Publishing
- Donna Bungard: How Project Management Empowers Accessibility
- Simon Hearne: Inclusive Design is Fast by Default
