About Inclusive Design 24

Launched in 2014, Inclusive Design 24 (ID24) is a free 24-hour online event of presentations about inclusive design and accessibility.

From the Inclusive Design 24 website:

It celebrates inclusive design and shares knowledge and ideas from analogue to digital, from design to development, from planners to practitioners, and everything and everyone in between.

The first ID24 was organized by a dedicated group of accessibility professionals in three weeks.

Open to everyone, ID24 features 24 presentations at no cost and no registration for attendees.

Presentations are streamed live from YouTube, captioned, and recorded for later viewing.

Call for Speakers

ID24 is open to talks from anyone interested in speaking about inclusive design and accessibility. You don’t have to be a professional speaker to present.

Not sure what you would talk about? Here are a few suggestions:

  1. Share lessons learned from your latest work project
  2. Discuss how you incorporated inclusive design at your organization
  3. Share a helpful tip you discovered when you were researching a design or development issue

Here’s your opportunity to talk about your lessons learned, thoughts on inclusive design, and experiences.

To apply, fill out the online Google form to submit your talk with info about yourself, talk title, and brief description of your talk.

Deadline for submissions is June 5, 2022.

Some details about the talks:

  1. Each ID24 talk runs for 40 minutes with a 10-minute Q & A period at the end. Practice your talk to make sure it runs within 50 minutes (and doesn’t leave too much time at the end for a long break).
  2. Zoom is used to broadcast to YouTube Live. If you’re not familiar with Zoom, check out Zoom help: Getting started.
  3. You need to complete a tech check by September 16, 2022
  4. Due to potential streaming issues, limit your use of live demos, audio, video, and animations. Avoid live coding.

Check out info for presenters for more tips and recommendations for presenting at ID24.

Due to their supporters, ID24 offers a modest “thank you” to presenters for each session.

Wrapping Up

ID24 is one of my favorite online conferences. I hope you consider becoming a speaker so you can share your knowledge, experience, and tips for inclusive design and accessibility.
