About Inclusive Design 24

Organized by a group of volunteers around the world, Inclusive Design 24 (ID24) is a 24-hour free online annual event that launched its first event in 2014.

In 2019, Inclusive Design 24 was set up as an unincorporated nonprofit association. Supporters provide funding for live captioning and “thank you’s” to presenters and guest hosts.

The event’s one-hour sessions offer something for everyone, if you’re beginning to learn about inclusive design or you’re someone who’s been working on inclusive design for years.

You’ll get helpful advice as well as actionable tips for your next project, whether you’re a

  • Developer
  • Designer
  • User experience practitioner
  • Accessibility specialist
  • Project manager
  • Content strategist
  • Someone involved in the design of physical or digital services and products

About the Sessions and Schedule

Inclusive Design 24 kicks off September 22, 2022 at 11:30PM UTC with a 30-minute pre-show. Event hosts will be chatting about accessibility, inclusive design, and the upcoming sessions.

The first presentation begins at 0:00 UTC on September 22, 2022.

(Kudos to their design folks for automatically converting session times to my time zone. I don’t have to do extra work to convert sessions times.)

Sessions start at the top of the hour and end with a Q & A.

Check the ID24 schedule to learn which talks you want to attend.

Note: the schedule can change. Check it the day before the event to confirm times for sessions you want to attend.

I’m not staying up 24 hours to watch every session (that’s why I’ll be watching recordings later!).

But I found several sessions I plan to watch live:

  • Kazuhiko Tsuchiya: Inclusive Persona Extension
  • Pabla Martin Zazú and María Soledad Escobar: Disability and inclusion in Latin America: How digital accessibility can remove barriers from job searching websites
  • John Allsopp: Really inclusive online conferences
  • Kate Every: Dangerous Design: Why We Need to Think about Design Ethics
  • Laura Brady and Tzviya Siegman: 360° Accessible Book Publishing

Attendees will watch the livestream broadcast on YouTube. Live captions will be provided.

No signup or registration is required.

After the event, session recordings will be available.
