One of my favorite WordPress resources, Easy WP Guide, has been released for WordPress 5.5.
The guide to managing WordPress content has been updated with new chapters and over 100 new screenshots to reflect the new features and changes in adding and editing content in WordPress 5.5.
As usual, my friend Anthony Hortin, the author of Easy WP Guide, has done an excellent job in offering you a helpful guide for updating your WordPress website content.
Whenever anyone asks me for a resource for learning how to manage their WordPress content, whether on Twitter, from a West Metro Detroit WordPress or Metro Detroit WordPress meetup member, I always refer them to Easy WP Guide.
It’s one of the five resources I include in my online resources for learning WordPress post.
What You’ll Find in Easy WP Guide
For anyone updating content on a WordPress site, Easy WP Guide is a goldmine of helpful how-to’s, tips, and screenshots to make it easier to work on your site.
Hortin has created a simple guide using plain language that is easy to understand.
No need to scratch your head trying to understand coding jargon as Hortin explains basic concepts through detailed steps and annotations.
The guide is organized by main topics—Dashboard, Categories, Media Library, etc.—which you can drill down for more details.
If you haven’t moved to the new Block Editor, no worries. Hortin provides information for managing your site whether you’re using the Block Editor (also known as Gutenberg) or the Classic Editor.
Here’s a partial listing of the Table of Contents:
- Dashboard
- Adding Your Site Content, including sections on the the new Block Directory and Block Patterns introduced in WordPress 5.5
- Categories
- Tags
- Media Library
- Comments
- Appearance
- Plugins
- Users
- Settings
- Keeping Your Site Updated
Note: Easy WP Guide is a guide for managing content on your website. It’s not intended as a developer resource.
If you’re looking for theme and plugin resources, visit the WordPress Codex as well as the Codex developer documentation.
Another helpful resource is the developer documentation for the Block Editor.

Wrapping Up
I remember the first time I discovered Easy WP Guide, in 2013, grateful for a guide that explained how to manage content in WordPress.
And I’m especially thankful to Anthony Hortin, who continually updates the guide with new info, screenshots, and annotations after every major WordPress release.
Whether you’re new to WordPress or have been using it for years, add this well-written, organized guide to your WordPress resources!
