Note: Since our January 2020 West Metro Detroit WordPress business roundtable meetup was canceled due to low registration, I’ve rescheduled the event for our February 2020 meetup.

When I first started creating websites, I did pro-bono design and development work for nonprofits and local faith organizations.

Transitioning to a pricing model was a big step for me.

And I had a lot of hiccups along the way.

I remember one prospective client from years ago who asked for a website with new logo design, multiple forms, photo gallery, and online forum, but only wanted to pay $100 for their site.

By that time, I had learned about pre-screening my prospective clients.

I didn’t take that project.

Eventbrite and Accessibility

Last week, when I wrote about moving our Refresh Detroit event registration from Meetup.com to Eventbrite, I explained the main reason was to create a more usable and accessible experience for our members.

I talked about how the Meetup.com design released in late 2017 resulted in a frustrating and less accessible experience for organizers as well as people registering for events.

As Refresh Detroit co-organizers, Nick DeNardis and I talked about event registration alternatives to Meetup.com and ultimately chose to use Eventbrite.
