A Future Date: Free Three-Day Online Accessibility Conference

Did you miss out attending accessibility and inclusive design conferences this year, due to the COVID outbreak?

I know I canceled plans for attending several events, which I was looking forward to participating in.

Enter a new kind of online conference, A Future Date, that takes place April 21 to April 23, 2020.

Organized by volunteers, A Future Date offers three days of curated accessibility and inclusive design sessions by experts. The sessions were canceled at the major conferences planned this year.

Shoutout to the organizers and the speakers that have worked together to make A Future Date happen!

You’ll want to set aside time this week to attend the event. All sessions will be presented on YouTube, captioning will be provided.

Read on for more details.

A Future Date

The conference starts Tuesday, April 21, 2020 at 11AM Eastern Time (confirm your time zone).

Each day of the conference runs til 5PM Eastern Time, with sessions starting at different times throughout the day.

You’ll want to check the schedule to confirm times for the sessions you want to attend.

For example, I noticed some of the sessions I want to attend start at 2:30PM or 2:40PM, depending on the day.

The first day of the conference, Tuesday, April 21, 2020, kicks off with the Digital Accessibility Legal Update keynote address by Lainey Feingold and Tim Elder.

Other sessions include:

  • Respecting User Preferences on the Web
  • Amplifying Your Accessibility With Better Authoring Tools
  • Why Add People with Disabilities to Your Workforce?
  • No Team? No Problem! Implementing Accessibility with No Dedicated Resources
  • Retrofitting Captions Compliance

and many more.

Mark your calendar with the sessions you want to attend.
