West Metro Detroit WordPress: Intro to WordPress 5.0 and Gutenberg

You’re invited to join us at our November West Metro Detroit WordPress meetup for an overview and demo of the upcoming WordPress 5.0 release with the Gutenberg editor.

Here’s your opportunity to learn what features are in the upcoming 5.0 version and get a walkthrough of the new Gutenberg editor.

Intro to WordPress 5.0 and Gutenberg

Gutenberg has been the talk of the WordPress community for the past year and half, as new versions of the editor were released for testing.

With the anticipated release of WordPress 5.0 in late 2018, it’s time for us to take a deeper dive into the release and Gutenberg functionality.

At our November 2018 meetup we’ll have an informal discussion of WordPress 5.0, including:

  • Overview of what Gutenberg is
  • What you can do with it
  • What you need to do to take advantage of Gutenberg

In addition, you’ll learn how to revert to the classic editor and where Gutenberg is headed.

Speaker Information

I’m thrilled George Hoteling accepted my invitation to be speaker for our November meetup.

George Hoteling

George has attended past Metro Detroit WordPress and West Metro Detroit WordPress events.

But his recent move to a new home further away meant I wasn’t sure we’d see him again at our meetups.

George is a JavaScript Wrangler at Automattic (the company behind WordPress.com). He lives in Ann Arbor, Michigan with his wife, two children, and two dogs.

In his spare time he enjoys tinkering, brewing beer, and getting outside. Follow George online at his blog.

Meetup Information and Registration

Our meetup is Tuesday, November 13, 2018 from 6:30pm to 8:00pm; pre-registration is required.

We’ll meet at the Canton Public Library in Canton, Michigan (directions and map).

The meetup is free, but pre-registration is required since we have limited seating space. And it’s the only way you’ll get follow-up message with notes.

As always, we’ll have time to network and discuss the latest WordPress news.

See You There!

Bring your laptop, Chromebook, or paper and pencil to take notes.

I’m looking forward to the meetup and I hope you’ll join us for learning and networking.

See you November 13th
