It wasn’t my plan as I was out searching for the Greater White-fronted Goose in 10 degree weather last Monday evening, but I managed to capture the February supermoon when it rose from the east.

Photo of the Week: Rainbow at Gotfredson Marsh

I never know what I’ll see when I visit one of my favorite birding spots, Gotfredson Marsh in Superior Township, on the edge of Washtenaw County in Michigan.

Typically, I’ll find the copper-topped Sandhill Cranes on the south end of the marsh, the majestic Trumpeter Swans and their family of three cygets lazily swimming in the open waters while the stealthy Green Heron quietly sits on a log jutting into the marsh.
