“This looks like the place to be”, I said as I sat down on the bench behind the Whitefish Point Bird Observatory, on the shore of Lake Superior, in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan.

Photo of the Week: Red-headed Woodpecker and Red-bellied Woodpecker

Last week I was thrilled to finally see my first Red-headed Woodpecker ever. A life bird for me! This week, I was even more excited when I managed to see both the Red-headed Woodpecker and the Red-bellied Woodpecker in the same tree. Photo shot at Pearson Metropark, east of Toledo, Ohio.
