It’s that time of year again! Time for the annual outdoor Plymouth Ice Festival in downtown Plymouth, Michigan, where local ice sculptors and community college student teams create beautiful ice sculptures from blocks of ice. Photo of the Week: Miller Woods in Winter

Usually I walk through Miller Woods in warm weather, to discover signs of spring, look for birds, or enjoy the fall colors.

But in winter, it’s much easier to find birds when they can’t hide behind the leaves.

And since there are fewer birds in Michigan in winter, it’s much easier to identify what I’m looking at.
