Walking out to the western shore of Lake Erie, I peered over the rocky and sandy shoreline in search of shorebirds which began migrating through southeast Michigan over the past few weeks.
I thought I heard a sound above me and I was right!
When I looked up, I saw a flock of around 40 American White Pelicans soaring overhead, slowly flapping their broad wings.

When I went birding at Belle Isle State Park this weekend, I found black fabric lining the shoreline as a type of fence around a majority of the park.

The reappearance of Ospreys in spring is one of our true signs of spring!
Birders in southeast Michigan have been reporting Osprey sightings for the past week, so I went out birding in search of my first-of-year Osprey a couple days ago.
