Today marks the 36th anniversary of Martin Luther King Day, a national holiday to honor the work and service of civil rights leader Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

Each third Monday of January, celebrations are held throughout the United States Americans honoring King’s legacy through events and days of service to others.

Given the COVID pandemic, most events and options to volunteer have been moved online.

In our southeast Michigan, I found dozens of events happening today.

Today we commemorate the 92nd birthday of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. on Martin Luther King, Jr. Day (MLK Day), a national day of service in the United States to honor the life and work of the civil rights leader.
