Fall colors of trees from Naomikong Overlook

One of my favorite drives in the UP (Upper Peninsula) of Michigan is the drive around Whitefish Bay, also known as the Whitefish Bay Scenic Byway.

And this weekend I was excited to make the drive around the bay to catch the fall colors.

The drive follows the Lake Superior shoreline along Whitefish Bay from M-123, just south of the Tahquamenon Falls State Park all the way through Brimley. Continue reading Photo of the Week: Naomikong Overlook

Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore with trees in fall color in background

Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore along the southern shore of Lake Superior in the Upper Peninsula is one of the most beautiful places to visit in Michigan.

With 200-foot-high sandstone cliffs displaying red and brown iron, black manganese, green copper, and yellow and white colors from limestone, it’s a stunning sight to see. Continue reading Photo of the Week: Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore

Photo of the Week: Marquette Harbor Lighthouse

Marquette Harbor Light House

A few dedicated sun worshippers were on the beach when I took this shot of Marquette Harbor Lighthouse in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula on the southern shore of Lake Superior.

Bright sunny skies, white fluffy clouds, and temperatures reaching 70 degrees that day meant a lot of people were out and about on the beach and trail along the shoreline. Continue reading Photo of the Week: Marquette Harbor Lighthouse
