As I transition WordPress sites to the block editor, one of the most challenging issues I’ve had is with nested blocks.

For example, in the GeneratePress theme, I use Generate Blocks to create complex layouts with rows and columns.

Which for some designs means I’ll create a content section for a page with a Container block.

Then I’ll add a Grid block.

Within each grid item, I’ll add paragraphs, lists, or images.

Quick Tip: How to Maintain a Consistent Look for Buttons in GeneratePress

GeneratePress

One of my latest projects is transitioning an existing GeneratePress site to the WordPress block editor.

If you’re not familiar with it, GeneratePress is a popular WordPress theme. I like using it because it’s lightweight, well-coded, and offers a wealth of customization options.

Overall the transition project has gone well.

No major issues, though I needed to invest time to review what blocks worked well for the content on 80+ pages and posts.
