We had our first snow yesterday in southeastern Michigan, mostly just a light dusting. But my flowers seem to be holding on this morning.

Winter Blooms in Florida
Our trip to Florida brought with it a return to blooming flowers, something we won’t see in Michigan for a few months. One of my favorites is the Bird of Paradise, Strelitzia reginae, which I saw blooming on my early morning walk.

Unbelievable. It’s 50 degrees in Michigan the first week of January. And my first spring bulbs are blooming. Breaks all records of previous years for first spring blooms.
