Photo of the Week: Elusive Painted Buntings

The bird at the feeder had me stymied. The green body color, yellow underbelly, and eye ring had me wondering what bird was enjoying an afternoon treat.

Photo of the Week: Rainbow at Gotfredson Marsh

I never know what I’ll see when I visit one of my favorite birding spots, Gotfredson Marsh in Superior Township, on the edge of Washtenaw County in Michigan.

Typically, I’ll find the copper-topped Sandhill Cranes on the south end of the marsh, the majestic Trumpeter Swans and their family of three cygets lazily swimming in the open waters while the stealthy Green Heron quietly sits on a log jutting into the marsh.
