One of the prettiest birds for me to see in spring, other than the warblers, is the White-throated Sparrow.

Photo of the Week: Short-Eared Owl

Short-eared owl flying over winter weeds, sunlight shining through wings

One of the few owls you’ll see active during the day, the Short-Eared Owl was a beautiful sight in the sky as it silently flew over farm fields and vacant land on the eastern portion of Washtenaw County.

I took the photo of the owl last week, before five inches of snow covered southeastern Michigan.
