Finally after two years, the John D. Dingell Jr. Visitor Center at the Detroit River International Wildlife Refuge in Trenton, Michigan officially opened to the public this past week.

Due to the COVID pandemic, the outside areas at the refuge were opened to the public in late 2020, but the visitor center had been closed.

Photo of the Week: Bald Eagle Duo

Large white-headed dark-brown feathered raptors with yellow talons perch next to each other on a bare tree limb, looking out over the marsh.

As I drove near the entrance of the Magee Marsh parking lot, vehicles ahead of me slowed down and eventually stopped.

Not unusual at this wonderful wildlife area on the southwestern shore of Lake Erie, north of Oak Harbor, Ohio.

Magee Marsh is well known for its wildlife.

Especially for the flights of waterfowl and migrating songbirds seen each spring.
