A slender sparrow-sized bird I typically hear long before I see it, the Red-eyed Vireo is a small bird that forages in tree canopies of forests and woodlots.
Making for a more difficult time finding them in the dark shadows in the high branches of deciduous trees.

A smaller heron, the immature Little Blue Heron I saw this weekend at a southwestern Lake Erie marsh was slowly foraging the wetlands in the furthest corner from where I parked.
I’ve put off hiking the trail around the marsh this summer, there’s no shade or wooded area around the wetland.

Like bridges—this one is over the Huron River at Gallup Park in Ann Arbor, Michigan—where you see Cliff Swallow nests as you look up from the trail.
